What NexusAI does
NexusAI lets you automate Revit with plain-language requests. You describe what you want in the NexusAI web app; NexusAI generates the automation, runs it safely inside your Revit session, and reports the results back to you.
Requirements
- Autodesk Revit 2021 through 2027 (Windows 64-bit).
- A NexusAI account with an active subscription or free trial, or a seat on your company's NexusAI plan.
- An internet connection (the AI runs in the cloud).
First run
- Save your work and close Revit, then run the NexusAI installer. (If Revit is still open, the installer will ask it to close first — Revit will prompt you to save any unsaved changes.)
- Open a project in Revit. On the Add-Ins tab, in the NexusAI panel, click NexusAI.
- Your browser opens the NexusAI web app. Sign in with your NexusAI account or your organization's Microsoft account. New individual accounts choose a plan and start the free trial (see below). Your computer pairs automatically — there is nothing to sign in to inside Revit.
- Once signed in, the web app shows your active Revit document and view as connected context.
- Type a request (for example, “tag all untagged doors on the current view”) and submit it.
- NexusAI works directly in your Revit model to carry out the request, then reports what it did. Verify the results in Revit.
Always verify NexusAI's work. NexusAI works autonomously in your model and AI-generated automation can be incorrect. Keep a backup of your model before running requests that modify it, and review the results afterward — undo (Ctrl+Z) if anything is not what you expected.
Free trial
Individual plans start with a 14-day free trial. You add a card through Stripe when you sign up, and nothing is charged during the trial.
- The trial includes a starter AI allowance and a limited model selection. Other models stay locked until your subscription starts.
- Settings → AI Usage shows how many trial days are left and how much of the allowance you have used.
- When the trial ends, your card is charged for the plan you chose and every model unlocks. We email you before that happens.
- If you use up the allowance or want a locked model sooner, click Start subscription now in Settings to end the trial early.
- To avoid being charged, cancel from Settings → Manage Subscription before the trial ends.
- One free trial per person, card, and computer.
The busy notice
If you have an active Revit command or an open dialog, Revit cannot run NexusAI's automation until you finish it. When this happens, NexusAI shows a small notice in the corner of the screen: “Finish your active Revit command so NexusAI can run.” Complete or cancel the command and the request continues. Click the notice to dismiss it.
Updating
NexusAI does not update itself silently. When a newer version is available, the web app prompts you to download and run the latest signed installer. This keeps your antivirus happy and gives you full control over updates.
Troubleshooting
- No NexusAI button after install: look on the Add-Ins tab. If it is not there, confirm Revit was fully closed during installation, then reopen it.
- Web app says the add-in is not connected: NexusAI connects by itself when Revit starts. Make sure Revit is running with a project open and that you are signed in to the web app with the same account. If it still shows disconnected, restart Revit.
- “Your free trial needs the latest NexusAI add-in”: download and run the current installer from the download page, then restart Revit.
- “Couldn't open local port” notice: another program may be using the local helper port. Close it or restart your machine.
- Diagnostic logs: local logs are written to
%APPDATA%\NexusAI\logsand can be attached to a support request.
